Betting shops are getting ready to re-open safely
Betting shops in England are preparing to re-open safely on June 15, as part of Government plans to open up much of the country’s ‘non-essential’ retail, and BGC chief executive Michael Dugher popped in to a branch of Corals in central London to get a sneak preview of how they will look.
New screens have been put in place at the counter and between gaming machines, hand sanitisers are widely available throughout the shop, markings and signs pointing out the 2m social distancing rules have been placed throughout the shop, as well as other measures to combat covid-19.
Mr Dugher said: “It’s great news that betting shops will be re-opening their doors on June 15. They make a significant contribution to the economy, supporting good jobs on the high street, and providing enjoyment for the millions who like a flutter.
“I was hugely impressed with the new-look Coral branch. It’s great to see all the efforts they and other operators are making to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for their staff and customers alike.”
