We are driving change to better protect young people

The Government's Gambling Review is rightly examining what more can be done to protect under-18s. At the BGC, we strongly support this work and have introduced a number of changes since being set up in 2019. Watch this short animation to find out what we have done so far.

WORK IN PROGRESS

The BGC has already driven major changes in protecting young people, including a new code of conduct aimed at preventing football clubs from using their official social media accounts to promote gambling offers. But there is still more to do.

We’ve set up the AdTech forum to look at how we extend filtering for online ads.

We are working with online platforms on opt outs for gambling advertising.

We will seek to work with banks to automatically block under-18s from using debit cards to bet.

And we have also created the Broadcasters Forum to discuss how to use the latest technology to further reduce under-18s' exposure to betting advertising.
