CEO GRAINNE HURST LEADS BGC TEAM AT REFORM PARTY CONFERENCE
This week, our CEO Grainne Hurst led the Betting and Gaming Council team at the Reform Party Conference.
We welcomed the opportunity to engage with senior figures in the party, including Reform's leader Nigel Farage MP and deputy leader Richard Tice MP, to discuss the importance of a strong, sustainable, and well-regulated betting and gaming sector.
Central to our conversations was the growing concern around potential tax hikes in the upcoming Budget. We made clear that any increase would effectively be a punters’ tax. One that risks driving customers away from the regulated sector and into the unsafe, unregulated black market, where there are none of the protections that exist for customers today.
The BGC will continue to fight for our industry, one that supports 109,000 jobs, generates £6.8 billion for the economy, contributes £4 billion in tax, and serves the millions of people who enjoy a bet responsibly.
